1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, smartphone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and to provide information to website owners.
Similar technologies referenced in this policy include:
- Web beacons or pixels: small transparent images embedded in web pages or emails that record whether content has been viewed.
- Local storage: data stored in your browser that persists after you close it.
- Session storage: data stored temporarily for the duration of a single browser session.
2. How We Use Cookies
We use cookies to:
- Make the Site function properly.
- Remember your cookie consent choice across pages and visits.
- Understand how visitors interact with the Site (only with your consent).
- Improve the Site over time based on aggregate usage patterns.
We do not currently use cookies for advertising, retargeting, or profiling on this Site. If that changes, this policy will be updated and the cookie banner will request fresh consent before any advertising cookie is set.
3. Categories of Cookies on This Site
Our cookie banner organizes cookies into four categories. The tables below list the actual cookies set in each category as of the effective date.
3.1 Strictly Necessary (Always On)
These cookies are required for the Site to work. They cannot be disabled. They do not track you across other sites and are not used for advertising.
3.2 Functional
Functional cookies remember preferences such as saved form state or interface choices that go beyond strict necessity.
None currently deployed on this Site. If functional cookies are added in the future, this section will be updated with the specific cookie names, providers, purposes, and durations, and the banner will ask for fresh consent before any are set.
3.3 Analytics (Requires Consent)
These cookies help us understand how visitors use the Site (which pages are viewed, how long sessions last, where visitors come from). They are set only if you grant consent through the cookie banner. They are not used to identify you personally.
Google Analytics is configured with IP anonymization where supported by the platform and with data retention set to the shortest GA4 supports. We do not share GA4 data with Google for advertising or other purposes.
3.4 Advertising (Requires Consent)
No advertising cookies are currently deployed on this Site. The Advertising category is exposed in the banner so the consent infrastructure is in place, but no advertising tag, conversion pixel, or remarketing tracker is currently loaded. If we begin running paid advertising in the future (for example, Google Ads conversion tracking), this section will be updated to list the specific cookies (such as _gcl_aw, _gac_*, or IDE), and the banner will request fresh consent before any of them are set.
3.5 Server-Side Consent Audit Log
When you make a cookie consent choice (Accept All, Reject All, Customize, or change your preferences), we record an audit-log entry on a server we operate jointly with our digital agency, Your Web Guy, at jarvis.yourwebguy.net. The audit log contains your consent choice, the consent version, a randomly generated consent identifier, the timestamp, your browser user-agent string, whether your browser sent a Global Privacy Control signal, and the page URL where the choice was made. The audit log does not contain your name, email, or other directly identifying personal information. We retain the audit log to demonstrate compliance with applicable privacy laws.
4. Your Consent Choices
4.1 Cookie Consent Banner
When you first visit the Site, a cookie consent banner appears. You can:
- Accept All: enables every category of cookies described above.
- Reject All: allows only Strictly Necessary cookies.
- Customize: opens the preference center where you can enable or disable each category individually.
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal (see Section 7), the banner replaces "Accept All" with "Accept Analytics" and disables the Advertising toggle for that visit.
4.2 Changing Your Preferences
You can change your cookie preferences at any time:
- Click the Cookie Settings link in the footer of any page.
- Clear your browser cookies and revisit the Site to restart the banner.
- Use your browser's built-in cookie controls.
4.3 Browser Controls
Most browsers let you manage cookies through their settings:
- Chrome: Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Settings > Privacy > Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions
4.4 Opt-Out Links
- Google Analytics: install the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on to disable GA4 tracking across all sites that use it.
5. Third-Party Cookies
The only third party that sets cookies through this Site is Google, and only when you grant Analytics consent. See Google's Privacy Policy for details on how Google handles the data collected through Google Analytics. We recommend reviewing Google's policy in full.
6. Do Not Track
Our Site does not currently respond to "Do Not Track" (DNT) browser signals because there is no broadly accepted standard for how a website should respond to them. We do honor the Global Privacy Control signal, which is the modern successor to DNT. See Section 7.
7. Global Privacy Control
We respect the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser or a privacy extension sends a GPC signal, we automatically:
- Treat it as a valid opt-out of any sale or sharing of personal information for advertising purposes (where applicable).
- Disable the Advertising category in our cookie banner so advertising cookies cannot be enabled on that visit.
- Display a notice on the cookie banner confirming the GPC signal was received.
You can still choose whether to enable Analytics cookies during a GPC visit.
8. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have specific rights regarding cookies and tracking on this Site.
Florida Residents (Florida Digital Bill of Rights)
Under the Florida Digital Bill of Rights, effective July 1, 2024, Florida residents may have the right to opt out of targeted advertising, which can involve cookie-based tracking. We do not currently engage in targeted advertising on this Site and we do not sell personal information. See our Privacy Policy for details.
California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)
You have the right to opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, which may include certain cookie-based tracking for advertising purposes. We do not currently sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. See our Privacy Policy and Privacy Rights page to exercise your rights.
European Visitors (GDPR)
We obtain your affirmative consent before placing any non-essential cookie. You may withdraw consent at any time through the cookie banner or the Cookie Settings footer link.
9. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our cookie practices or applicable law. When material changes are made, we will update the "Last Updated" date and may require fresh consent through the cookie banner. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
